2013 Teaching with Technology Conference: Learning in Motion
USC Davidson Conference Center, Monday, May 6, 2013
This year's theme, "Learning in Motion," examines the nexus of mobility, learning, and health, and the pivotal role of technology. Powerful mobile technologies are ubiquitous and constantly changing the boundaries of where and how learning takes place. "Learning in Motion" highlights the profound influence of technology on every aspect of our daily lives and the ease with which we move through time and space to connect with new learning opportunities. Our goal is to introduce advancements in technology that can jumpstart our thinking about new ways that technology can support innovation in teaching and learning at USC.
The 2013 Teaching with Technology Conference keynote speakers are Leslie Saxon, M.D., professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine, and Maja Mataric, professor of Computer Science and Vice Dean for Research at the Viterbi School of Engineering. Dr. Saxon is a world-renowned expert and leader in the area of mobile technologies and health. As executive director of the university's Center for Body Computing, Dr. Saxon develops health care apps that provide personalized medical data to her patients in real time. Professor Mataric is a world-renowned expert on robotics who works with stroke and Alzheimer's patients as well as autistic children. Mataric experiments with machines that engage directly with these patients, encouraging both physical and cognitive rehabilitation and increasing our understanding of the powerful connection between social robots and human motivation.
