Key Initiatives

The Center for Scholarly Technology (CST) engages in initiatives at the vanguard of the field and that serve USC’s academic vision and priorities in such areas as multimedia scholarship, online learning, assessment, and emergency preparedness. The focus is on innovation and experimentation with technologies and educational practices, as well as identification of scalable solutions. CST constantly evaluates projects and pilot programs to recommend those that will most benefit the USC academic community.

USC Scholars
“Connecting with USC Scholars” is an online collection of multimedia-rich academic experiences, content, and resources. Open to the public, the site offers opportunities to interact with USC scholars and experts, and contribute to ongoing research.

Mobile Learning
Mobile devices such as tablets, cell phones, laptops, and notebooks continue to expand the boundaries of students’ learning environments. The mLearning website offers resources, research, and class assignments.

Video@USC
The Video@USC Task Force is exploring ways to improve technology tools and infrastructure; video–related skill development; resources, support, and production services; and communication about existing resources. Its mission is based on a campus survey examining how faculty, students, and staff are using video for teaching, learning, research, and other responsibilities. The results found that 98 percent of respondents consider video essential to their work.

USC Tech Teams
Join a USC Tech Team of faculty, students, and staff to explore emerging technologies for teaching and learning.

LMS Evaluation
Learning Management Systems (LMS) are critical, enterprise-level applications, essential to course continuity in the event of a campus closure. CST has engaged key campus stakeholders in a comprehensive, case-based evaluation that will result in improving the next generation of USC’s LMS.

iPad Cart Pilot
